1. CREATION
The Ranchi Commissionerate of Central Excise and
Service Tax , located at Central Reve nue Building 5 Main Road,
Ranchi., was created vide Notification No. 14/2002 – Central Excise
(NT), dated March 8th, 2002 and made functional vide Notification No.
35/2002- Central Excise (NT), date October, 24th ,2002 on and from
first day of November, 2002. This Commissionerate falls within the
jurisdiction of Chief Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax,
Ranchi Zone.
2. JURISDICTION
The jurisdiction of Commissionerate of Ranchi
was carved out of the existing Jamshedpur Commissionerate and it
extends to the whole of Jharkhand State excluding East Singhbhum, West
Singhbhum and Sarai Kela – Kharshawan Districts. The jurisdictional
area of Ranchi Commissionerate covers whole of Districts of Ranchi ,
Hazaribagh, Koderma, Gumla, Lohardaga, Simdega, Chatra, Latehar,
Palamu, Bokaro, Giridih, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, Deoghar, Pakur, Dumka,
Godda, Garhwa, and Jamtara of the State of Jharkhand .

There are four Divisions in Ranchi Commissionerate described as
under:-
1. Central Excise Division--------
Ranchi, having five Ranges viz. Range I, Range-II (Three
Sectors), Range III (Four Sectors), Dhurwa Range (Four Sectors) &
Ramgarh Range (Four Sectors)
2. Central Excise Division------- Bokaro, having four Ranges
viz. Bokaro Range-I (Four Sectors), Bokaro Range-II (Four Sectors),
Bokaro Range- III (Three Sectors) & Sindri Range (Three
Sectors).
3. Central Excise Division------- Dhanbad, having four Ranges
viz. Dhanbad Range (Four Sectors), Kumardhubhi Range(Three Sectors),
Madhupur Range (Three Sectors) & Deoghar Range (Five Sectors).
4. Central Excise Division------ Hazaribagh, having four Ranges
viz. Bokaro Range-IV (Four Sectors), Bokaro Range-V (One Sector),
Hazaribagh Range(Four Sectors) & Gomia Range (Four Sectors) |
